Sheriff Kevin Beary, Commissioner Ted Edwards, Major Cyrus Brown
Major Cyrus Brown, Troop D Commander, is larger than life. His face, along with Orange County Sheriff Kevin Beary and Orange County Commissioner Ted Edwards are looking down on drivers all across Central Florida to get the message out about moving your vehicle when a driver is involved in a traffic crash.
Major Brown was approached by Commissioner Edwards, Chairman of Metroplan Orlando, to participate in the "Move It, Yes You Can" campaign. The goal of the public awareness initiative is to educate the public on their role in decreasing traffic congestion, by informing them that in the event of a minor traffic crash where there are no injuries and the vehicle can be moved, they are required, by Florida Law, to move their vehicle out of the travel lanes. Outlook Media and Clear Channel Outdoor have donated the billboard space for this campaign. Along with the billboard campaign, troopers from Troop D participated in a public service announcement, and brochures have been created to distribute to the public.
The Florida Highway Patrol wants the public to help keep traffic moving, so remember: "Move it - Yes You can!"
