The Florida Highway Patrol recently honored three area law enforcement officers for their pursuit and apprehension of the suspect in an attempted traffic stop in Columbia County that resulted in the crash, which killed FHP Sergeant Andy Brown.

Citrus County Sheriff's Office Deputies Matt Taylor and Dan Slingerland, along with Agricultural Law Enforcement Officer Wade Merritt, received official Proclamations from Governor Jeb Bush during a Cabinet meeting in Tallahassee. Later, at the FHP Academy, a ceremony was held to present the law enforcement officers with Certificates of Appreciation signed by FHP's Director, Colonel Chris Knight. The Patrol is grateful to these officers for their excellent police work in apprehending a dangerous criminal who was responsible for the tragic death of one of our veteran troopers. FHP thanks these fellow law enforcement officers for a job well done!
