Major Tom Knight awards Trooper Ramone Gregory
at the 42nd Annual East Hillsborough County
Law Enforcement Awards Dinner
Tampa District's Trooper Ramone Gregory was the FHP's recipient of the East Hillsborough County Law Enforcement Officer of the Year at a special awards dinner held on May 11, 2004, in Plant City.
Trooper Gregory received this honor after his quick thinking and life saving actions on March 28, 2004. While off duty, he was walking his dog through his neighborhood, when he came upon a frantic mother of a baby who had stopped breathing. Trooper Gregory performed CPR, and was able to get the baby to breath again. Trooper Gregory's actions did not stop there. Knowing that it would take longer to have EMS dispatched from their station to his location, he transported the mother and child to nearby South Florida Baptist Hospital, where the doctors were able to determine that the baby was suffering from a digestive disorder.
The Florida Highway Patrol commends Trooper Gregory for his actions and congratulates him on his award.
