Duty Officer McKenzie & Major Brown.
Duty Officer William McKenzie and Major Cyrus Brown.

On April 9, 2004, William McKenzie was named Troop D's Duty Officer of the Year. Duty Officer McKenzie was chosen by his peers, as well as his supervisors and shift commanders. The award is given to members who have demonstrated outstanding performance throughout the year.

Duty Officer McKenzie just celebrated his 2-year anniversary with the Florida Highway Patrol. He is married with two children and he came to Orlando from Virginia, where he was a police officer. He has worked the midnight shift since he began his career with the FHP. His co-workers had nothing but praise for "Mac". During his 2 years of employment, DO McKenzie has never received a complaint from the public, co-workers, troopers or supervisors. His co-workers specifically noted on their nominations that he performed all of his duties in a competent and courteous manner. DO McKenzie often volunteers to assist other duty officers, as well as training new duty officers, while maintaining a positive and professional demeanor. One of his supervisors was quoted as saying, "I wish I had 33 more like him." The FHP congratulates Bill "Mac" McKenzie, for being the recipient of Troop D's Duty Officer of the Year. award.
