Lt. Bobby Mills, Troop E
Another FHP member has saved the life of a motorist--this time in Marathon, Florida--where a fiery head-on collision left two elderly sisters dead. The incident began when the driver of a 2002 Cadillac, crossed the center line going southbound on U.S. 1, and crashed into a 1996 Ford sedan. Unfortunately, the impact killed the driver and her sister, a passenger in the vehicle.
The Ford overturned and caught fire on the side of the highway. Luckily, Lt. Bobby Mills arrived on the scene. According to Lt. Mills, "There were two people pulling on the female driver's side door when I arrived. We finally got the back door open. One man opened the door while I reached in and pulled her out of the flames." Lt. Mills said they moved away "just thirty seconds before it really went up." The woman was airlifted to Ryder Trauma Center in Miami where she was treated for severe burns. Thanks to Lt. Mills and some helpful citizens, a fellow motorist was saved from her burning vehicle.
