Recently, a team of dedicated sponsors held a highly successful fundraiser to help FHP raise money to purchase ballistic vests for some of its K-9's. The event, which was essentially a dog show--complete with TV celebrities Judy and Audrey Landers, drew a crowd of over one hundred spectators who were more than happy to donate money to help protect the lives of Florida Highway Patrol officers - the canine variety, that is.
Sergeant Dan Hinton, who was first approached with the idea of the fundraiser, said, "I was only expecting the sponsor to raise enough money for one vest." Even the event organizer, Steve Udell, was flabbergasted by the amount of people who showed up and donated money for this worthy cause. The event raised $1,825 in just two hours, with more donations expected in the next few weeks.

When asked why the event was so successful, Sponsor Steve Udell said that he advertised the Florida Highway Patrol's name, and people were just drawn like a magnet because of their support and appreciation for FHP and their dogs. The crowd enjoyed the K-9 demonstration given by Trooper Eason and Sergeant Hinton from Troop F's C.I.P. team. What a wonderful fundraiser event for a worthy cause! FHP thanks everyone who contributed to its great success.
