Troopers Tony Lee and Conya Bassett watch as the children open their gifts with excitement and joy!
On Christmas Eve, a couple of FHP troopers delivered toys to the Escribano family in Hollywood--a family that might not otherwise have any presents for Christmas. It was refreshing that these troopers were able to spread some cheer during the holidays. "Too often," said Lt. Bill Ferrell, "we have to go to people's homes to deliver bad news about a loved one." This time the troopers came bearing gifts and were rewarded with smiles from the children and their parents. After finding a private donor to supply the gifts, troopers decided to deliver toys to several needy families in the area, starting with the Escribanos. "The giving of these gifts is the most amazing thing we've ever done," said Lt. Ferrell. It was a happy change from the typical type of home visits troopers have to do.
