Captain B.A. Pelton conducts a traffic stop
and finds cocaine in the vehicle.
Last week, Captain B.A. Pelton stopped the driver of a 1986 Chevy for excessive speed on State Road 91. The driver, who had a South Carolina driver's license, was extremely nervous as he explained his inconsistent travel plans. Consent to search his vehicle was obtained. Backup was called to the scene.
Troopers found cocaine hidden inside the driver's car seat.
Trooper B. Fargo used K-9 Goblin to sniff the vehicle for possible contraband. After Goblin gave multiple alerts, Troopers Fargo and J. Barley conducted a thorough search of the car. They discovered 3 kilos of cocaine, with a street value of $65,400, concealed in the back padding of the driver's seat. The suspect was arrested and charged with Possession of Cocaine, Trafficking, Possession with Intent to Sell/Distribute, Resisting Arrest without Violence, and Possession of a Fictitious Driver's License. Also seized were the suspect's vehicle and $1,543 in U.S. currency. Good job troopers!
