On April 5th, the 14th Annual Southeast Police Motorcycle Rodeo was held in Coral Springs, Florida. This event benefits the Concerns Of Police Survivors (COPS) organization and also supports Muscular Dystrophy charities.

COPS is a national organization that benefits the children of police officers who were killed in the line of duty. The Police Motorcycle Rodeo is a large fundraiser for these charities and is also the largest police motorcycle safety skills event held in the Southeastern United States.

Troopers Mike Dobbs and Clay Murphy from Jacksonville, and Trooper Fred Frye from Miami, competed in the event. This was the first year the Florida Highway Patrol has participated in the motorcycle rodeo, which featured over 140 police motorcycle officers from all over the Southeastern United States competing against each other. Each officer was judged on his or her riding skills and how fast they could maneuver through each exercise without touching any cones. Trooper Fred Frye placed 2nd in the novice class and took home the first-ever trophy for Troop E-Miami, along with a team trophy.
