On April 2 & 3, 2003, The Florida Highway Patrol, in conjunction with the Florida Department of Transportation, the Manatee Sheriff’s Office, the Bradenton Police Department, and the Palmetto Police Department, participated in annual rotation wrecker inspections in Manatee County.

The wreckers were mechanically inspected to ensure they were road worthy and safe. In addition, background checks were conducted on all wrecker operators and drivers to determine whether licenses were valid and to check for any possible past criminal history. Members of FHP and other agencies also inspected wrecker storage facilities to ensure that each had adequate fencing and other security measures so that all property was kept safe and secure.
