FHP Retirees at the Tallahassee Regional Communications Center
On Tuesday, April 8, 2003, Troop H-Tallahassee hosted a continental breakfast social for retired members living in the area. The meeting focused on the recently dedicated Troopers Memorial and the new Tallahassee Regional Communications Center (TRCC).
After a brief welcome from Major Mark Trammell, Commander of Troop H, and Captain David Tripp, Commander of the TRCC, the retirees watched a moving Power Point presentation developed by Lieutenant Carl Herold on the Troopers Memorial Dedication Ceremony held at the FHP Training Academy on February 28, 2003. The retirees also had an opportunity to discuss the past, present, and future of the FHP with Lieutenant Colonel Larry Austin, Deputy Director of Field Operations.
With many of the retired members asking questions about the duty officers’ new roles and how computers work inside the patrol cars, it seemed like a great time to load everyone up and head over to the TRCC for the nickel tour. Colonel Christopher Knight, Chief Ken Howes, and Major Tony Allen joined the retirees in touring the TRCC and discussing further changes to the way the Patrol communicates internally and externally with its members.
Everyone enjoyed the opportunity to peer into the future, visit with old friends, and left the tour looking forward to their next social event.
