On April 1, 2003, a Proclamation by the Board of County Commission of Palm Beach County declared the week of April 13-19 as Telecommunications Week in Palm Beach County.
This Proclamation was executed by the members of the Board, and was presented by Commissioner Karen T. Marcus to representatives of several law enforcement agencies who represent all telecommunications personnel that respond to emergency calls in Palm Beach County.

National Telecommunications Week honors all of the dedicated professional public safety telecommunications personnel across the country that serve the public by answering emergency calls for police, fire rescue, and emergency medical services. This week is set aside to thank those whose job it is to dispatch the appropriate assistance to those in need. Telecommunications personnel are recognized for the critical functions they perform and the crucial roles they fulfill in protecting life and property all across the United States.
