Florida Highway Patrol troopers will soon be displaying newly designed license plates on their patrol vehicles, thanks to Colonel Chris Knight and 3M Corporation. While attending a conference in Atlanta, Georgia, Colonel Knight noticed the attractive rear license plates used by the Georgia State Patrol. Upon returning to Tallahassee, Colonel Knight asked Captain Ken Spears, FHP’s Fleet Property Manager, to research the possibility of obtaining similar tags for the Florida Highway Patrol. Captain Spears contacted 3M Corporation, and the process began!
For many years, in exchange for research and evaluation information, 3M Corporation has provided FHP vehicle license plates at no cost. The information 3M Corporation gathers from examining used FHP license plates helps to identify both positive and negative characteristics concerning the longevity and appearance of the materials used to manufacture the tag. This information is critical to their research technology.
After months of hard work in planning, designing, and manufacturing, 3M Corporation delivered the new tags to General Headquarters in Tallahassee! In addition, 3M Corporation also provided upgraded American flag license plates for the front of FHP patrol vehicles.
The men and women of the Florida Highway Patrol are proud of this “new look” and thank 3M Corporation for their generosity in donating these new license plates for all of our vehicles!
