Lt. Pat Santangelo and Trooper Lissa Udell
On Saturday, December 14, 2002, the Florida Highway Patrol participated in a Safe Christmas Event, along with the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office, the West Palm Beach Police, Fire and Rescue, and the Vickers House, a community resource center. Attending this annual event were over 700 disadvantaged children from toddlers up to the age of ten, who may be at particular risk for safety hazards during the holiday season. Several safety programs were presented throughout the day by fire rescue and law enforcement officials. In addition, to help ensure a safer holiday for these children, Kidcare Kits, which include fingerprints and photos, were distributed to every parent or grandparent at the event.
Troopers Mike Vanleer, Kurt Hardley and K-9 Goose
Some very special guests showed up to wish the children a merry and safe holiday, including K-9 Goose and the Sheriff’s mounted patrol horses. FHP troopers were on hand to distribute Think Safety coloring books and other goodies to the kids. And of course, Santa Claus arrived to spread some cheer by posing for photos and passing out gifts. It was a fun day filled with safe holiday tidings and good will for all!
