Trooper Davis and Trooper Lemery
Trooper Jimmy Davis and Trooper Jason Lemery

On July 9, 2002, at approximately 2:00 p.m., Trooper Jason Lemery stopped a 1997 Ford F150 pickup truck for unlawful speed (82/70) at the 186 milepost, eastbound on Interstate 10 in Gadsden County. The driver and sole occupant of the vehicle was from Mission, Texas. The driver was extremely nervous and gave vague trip plans. Subsequently, Trooper Jimmy Davis utilized K9 "York" to conduct a drug sniff of the engine compartment. Trooper Davis and Trooper Lemery then inspected the cavity of the manifold area with a fiberscope and probe. Upon removing the probe, a white powdery substance was found on the end of the probe. The white powdery substance field-tested positive for cocaine. The vehicle was secured and transported to FDLE in Tallahassee where Trooper Lemery and Trooper Davis disassembled the intake manifold/engine compartment. A plastic compartment attached to the manifold concealed two packages of cocaine wrapped in fiberglass. The driver was charged with possession of cocaine, possession of cocaine with intent to distribute, trafficking in cocaine, introduction of cocaine into the state, and possession of felony drug paraphernalia.
