Members of the Florida Highway Patrol's Bureau of Investigations, as well as investigators from the Attorney General's Office and Department of Insurance, recently attended a three day class hosted at the Davie FHP Station. The class, "Technical Operations Briefing for Street Agents," was presented by Ed Spiva (pictured above), retired coordinator from the State of Georgia's Police Academy. The course presents comprehensive overview of technology utilized in law enforcement surveillance, including audio intelligence gathering, video surveillance, basic physical and electronic surveillance, and other topics imperative to a successful covert operation.
Members of the Florida Highway Patrol Bureau of Investigations are often called on to assist many agencies with complex investigations. These cases often call for covert operations. Although the FHP is known for its expertise in traffic issues, FHP investigators strive to acquire and maintain the same level of expertise needed to participate in local, state and federal investigations.
