National Telecommunicators Week is April 14 through 20, 2002. This is the time of year that the professional men and women in the public safety communications field are given a special recognition.
Many times the duty officers and duty officer supervisors of the Florida Highway Patrol are overlooked and the job they perform is taken for granted. These people are largely unknown to the motoring public except they are the first point of contact when an emergency arises. Duty officers and duty officer supervisors are known as the "voice without a face" to the public. These professionals do a tremendous job for the public safety community. They are the lifeline of the troopers who work the road.
These "Unsung Heroes" should be "thanked" not just during this week, but the entire year-round.
