Congratulations to FHP for winning two top national awards in this year’s International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP) Law Enforcement Challenge. FHP received a 2nd place award in the IACP/National Highway Safety Administration (NHTSA) Law Enforcement Challenge and a 1st place award in a Special Award Category for its Child Passenger Safety Program. Last year, FHP’s Occupant Protection Program won a Special Award, now our agency’s Child Passenger Safety Program has taken top honors, being named the best program among law enforcement agencies in the entire nation this year.
Applications for both awards were prepared by staff in the FHP Office of Public Affairs and submitted among 560 other applications that were categorized and judged at IACP Headquarters in Alexandria, Virginia, by a panel of traffic safety professionals. These judges, comprised of national traffic safety experts and fellow law enforcement professionals, determined that FHP’s award applications deserved top honors. The official presentations of these awards will be made at the annual IACP Conference in San Diego, California in November.
Congratulations to everyone who worked on the applications and to our troopers, our Nationally Certified Child Passenger Safety Technicians, our FHPA, and our non-sworn staff whose hard work and dedication were reflected in these awards. Being selected by your peers and traffic safety professionals as a lead agency in reducing crashes and saving lives is the greatest honor of all!
