Lieutenant Dan Hinton
Lieutenant Dan Hinton, a twenty-two year veteran of the Florida Highway Patrol, was recently recognized and honored by the El Paso Intelligence Center (EPIC) and the Federal Motor Carrier Administration Drug Interdiction Assistance Program (FMCSA-DIAP) at the 18th Annual Criminal Interdiction Intelligence Networking and Training Conference. At the conference held in Kansas City the last week in August, Lt. Hinton was recognized for his outstanding efforts in the field of highway drug interdiction and awarded the El Paso Intelligence Center Director’s Award for Instructor of the Year. This prestigious award is based on a variety of criteria set by FMCSA and EPIC, which includes the amount of time dedicated to instruction, dedication to contraband interdiction, instruction techniques, willingness to instruct, overall professional stature, and techniques used to locate contraband in automobiles and commercial motor vehicles.
Lt. Hinton, who has dedicated most of his career to FHP’s Contraband Interdiction Program, was further recognized at the award ceremony for his countless hours of training to thousands of police officers throughout the United States, Canada, and Mexico. Congratulations to Lt. Hinton for his dedicated service to the Florida Highway Patrol. As a member of the Contraband Interdiction Program, his professional expertise in instructing those who serve and protect the highways and byways across the United States has been invaluable.
