Captain Carlos F. Vazquez is an 19 - year veteran of the Florida Highway Patrol, with prior assignments in Troop C - Hillsborough County, and Troop F - Manatee County. He has been the Central Region Commander for the Bureau of Investigations in Tampa since September 2006. The Central Region encompasses Troops D, C, K, and F.

The Central Region is comprised of a Central Region Commander (Captain), eleven investigators working out of five offices located in Orlando, Tampa, Lakeland, Ft. Myers, and Bradenton, as well as one administrative support staff located in Tampa. Their geographical area of responsibility encompasses Brevard, Charlotte, Citrus, Collier, DeSoto, Glades, Hardy, Hendry, Hernando, Highlands, Hillsborough, Lake, Lee, Manatee, Orange, Osceola, Pasco, Pinellas, Polk, Sarasota, Seminole, Sumter and Volusia Counties.
