Corporal Samuel L. Kight
Traffic Homicide Investigator
Troop D -Leesburg

Corporal Kight conducted a Traffic Homicide Investigation, which lead to the successful prosecution and conviction of the defendant for Vehicular Homicide, Leaving the Scene of a Crash Involving Death and Driving Without a Driver License. The defendant received a term of life in prison for these crimes.

On August 9, 2009, Corporal Kight responded to a traffic homicide scene in the area of County Road 466A near Twin Palms Dr. in Leesburg. The defendant was traveling at a high rate of speed, failed to negotiate a left turn and traveled into a private yard, striking and killing a 3-year old child. The defendant fled the scene but was apprehended by Corporal Kight later that same night.

It is with great pride that we recognize Corporal Kight for his hard work and dedication.
