Recently, we have experienced an increase in the number of "Merge Customer" transactions being processed throughout the state that have caused serious damage to customer records. The merges vary from companies merged into individuals or in some cases two completely different companies merged together.
In order to reduce the number of erroneous merges performed, limitations have been placed on the Merge Customer transaction.
The system has already been disallowing the following customers to be used as the Source customer during a Merge Customer transaction. Even the Help Desk cannot merge away these customers.
any individual with a Driver License number
any ELT customer
any Fleet customer
any IRP/IFTA customer
Now, the system will also disallow the following customers to be used as the Source customer during a Merge Customer transaction except by staff at the Help Desk:
any owner of a lease vehicle
any business customer with an FEID
any customer who owns 10 or more vehicles
any customer who owns 10 or more registrations.
In addition, an individual customer cannot be merged into a business customer.
This change will be in effect Monday, June 9, 2003. If you have any questions or need further clarification, please contact your Help Desk representative.
