Motorcycle Rider Education & Endorsements
Do you know that you need a motorcycle endorsement to legally ride a motorcycle? Until June 30, 2008, if you were under 21 years old, you needed to complete a motorcycle safety course. After June 30, 2008, all persons seeking a motorcycle endorsement, regardless of age, will be required to take a motorcycle safety course. SOCIAL SECURITY NUMBER COLLECTION: Florida Statutes require each applicant for an identification and or driver licenses to provide his or her social security number. The SSN is taken for the purpose of applicant identification. This information is electronically verified with the federal Social Security Administration in order to confirm the applicant’s identity. In order to prevent the issuance of driver licenses and identification cards to people who are not eligible to receive these documents, the DHSMV has enacted stringent requirements relating to the documents that must be presented in order for a customer to prove his/her identity, residency, and citizenship or lawful presence in the United States.
