SUBJECT: On-Line Updates for Clearance
Effective immediately, motor vehicle insurance information may be entered on-line on the Internet for clearance of cases for cancellation of policies covering personal injury protection and property damage liability insurance. Access will be available to the public, insurance agents/companies and will return an immediate confirmation of clearance when the coverage being entered is effective prior to date of suspension or pending suspension.
You may enter the insurance information using the following instructions:
- Go to: www.flhsmv.gov.
- Click on Driver License Check.
- Enter driver license number and click on "Enter."
- Information concerning the financial responsibility case will be indicated in a box titled "Effective Insurance Cancellation Suspension" if the license was under suspension, or "Pending Insurance Cancellation Suspension" if due to be suspended – click on "Click here."
- You will be in an instruction page. To enter insurance information click on "here" in
second paragraph on this page. This will take you to the update screen.
- Enter insurance information in the insurance update form. Please insure that the correct name of the carrier is selected from the drop down list. Entering the Florida Company Code will highlight the full correct name of the carrier as licensed in this state. Upon completion of the information, Click on "To submit, click here."
- If the insurance information you enter is sufficient, you will receive a return message indicating the case has been cleared.
If the information you enter is not sufficient, a message will be returned to you indicating that further compliance is necessary.
We are confident this process will greatly enhance compliance by providing a more timely method of providing insurance information to this department.
