Thirteen Florida Highway Patrol troopers are among the 175 Florida law enforcement officers honored this week by Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) for their efforts in DUI enforcement. Each officer in the DUI 100 Club has arrested 100 or more drunk drivers in 2007.
On Monday, April 7, 2008, law enforcement officers and members from the legal community were recognized at a special ceremony at the Capitol, followed by a luncheon held in their honor. The Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles held its own ceremony for the 13 distinguished troopers at General Headquarters after the luncheon.
At the ceremony, Colonel John Czernis expressed how proud the FHP is of its award winners, and how very important their efforts are at helping to prevent injury and death on our state’s roadways. In addition, Executive Director Electra Bustle reiterated how vital our troopers are to our agency’s mission, and how their protection of the motoring public is critical in our quest for a safer Florida. Additional speakers at the ceremony echoed words of thanks and appreciation to the thirteen honorees on behalf of the Patrol. Congratulations to the men and women of the Florida Highway Patrol listed below: We are very proud of you!
