On Wednesday, May 28, 2003, Corporal Charles R. Wells testified before the Circuit Court in Manatee County giving an excellent courtroom testimony, which was instrumental in securing a conviction on a DUI Manslaughter case involving a fatal crash that occurred in November of last year.

The crash resulted in one person’s death, three individuals who received incapacitating injuries, and one person who received a non-incapacitating injury. During the trial, Corporal Wells gave testimony to secure a guilty verdict against Amanda V. Gerack (age 24) for DUI Manslaughter, DUI with Serious Bodily Injury, and DUI with Property Damage. As a result of this guilty verdict, the violator received a prison sentence of fifteen years for the death of 70-year-old Doris E. Centers.

Corporal Wells is to be commended for his high level of professionalism in case preparation, courtroom testimony, and for performing his duties in an exceptional manner.
