The Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles is aware that information is circulating, via e-mail, about new traffic laws effective August 1, 2007. The e-mail implies eight areas have law changes, including cell phone usage, carpool lanes, lane changes, driving on the shoulder, seatbelt usage, speeding and driving under the influence. Please disregard this e-mail and do not forward to others. The information contained in the e-mail is not correct.

The Department encourages all motorists to drive safely, obey traffic laws and avoid distractions.
